cineclub

The year continues and with it our cineclub, a monthly meeting where we will present a careful selection of films. Each session will include the screening and a vegetarian dinner prepared by a guest artist, inspired by the work screened.

In the May session we will see Gorria and Cambium by Maddi Barber and Marina Lameiro.

Wednesday 21st of May

19:30h

Gorria by Maddi Barber | 2020 | 22 min

Somewhere in the Valle de Arce, the birthplace of the Navarrese artist Maddi Barber, the rural world continues its perpetual relationship between people and animals. The 16mm camera glides and intrudes naturally in the midst of everyday life. With skilful and timeless hand movements, sheep are slaughtered, sheared and milked. The red of the blood, which gives the film its title, the white of the fur, the green of the fields. Mouth-watering cheeses are made, splendid flowers bloom, songs are whispered.

Cambium by Maddi Barber & Marina Lameiro | 2024 | 44:30 min

Cambium, the cellular stratum of trees, is a changing membrane that runs along the trunk and roots, producing growth. In the Navarrese Pyrenees, a community has decided to cut down a pine forest in order to recover former fields for cultivation and animal grazing. Structured in two periods, the film traces the change of a territory traversed by practices of violence and care for the land.
