Biophilia by Bárbara S. Barroso | 2023 | 7:04 min

Bárbara S. Barroso works primarily with film and video installation, as well as through performance and writing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Audiovisual Communication from the University of Barcelona, a postgraduate degree from HISK in Belgium, and a master’s degree in artistic research from the Malmö Art Academy in Sweden. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues and institutions such as the Fundació Joan Miró, La Capella, Centre d’Art La Panera, the Taipei MoCA, the MHKA in Antwerp, and the Bienal Sur, among others. She is currently a doctoral candidate at BAU-UVic, an artist-in-residence at La Escocesa, and a lecturer at various universities and institutions.

Yazel Parra is a Venezuelan performer, researcher, and cultural mediator. She defines herself as a deconstructed actress/cultural worker. She completed postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD, UAB) on the political and poetic possibilities of contemporary theatre created within marginalized communities, and attended the Independent Studies Program at MACBA (2023–24). Her current practice investigates artistic languages through the materiality of the body and everyday life surrounding food, work rhythms, and domestic knowledge, seeking to listen to the questions that emerge and how they propose other forms of cultural mediation.

Activity coordinated by Catarina Botelho, Carlos Vásquez, Marla JacarillaValentina Alvarado Matos and Elena Maravillas.
