In this course we will learn how RISO works, and we will see how to print our postcards in 4 inks. We will make personalized postcards to send to your friends this summer! You can come with a design, a photograph, an idea you bring from home or you can let yourself be carried away by the moment!

In the workshop we will see theory and practice of the technique; on the one hand, we will talk about what it is and how to use the risograph machine and on the other hand we will put it into practice by designing and printing our postcards.

The course will be facilitated by Marian Vélez, risograph workshop teacher at La Escocesa.

Program

Session 1

Tuesday July 1st from 10.30 am to 2 pm

The first day we will learn what risography is and how the technique works. We will start the designs of the postcards taking into account their characteristics.

Session 2

Wednesday July 2nd from 10.30 am to 2 pm

During the second session we will see the preparation of the files for the riso machine in photoshop, and we will finish the designs.

Session 3

Thursday July 3rd from 10.30am to 2pm

In this session we will start the collective printing of the postcards.

Session 4

Friday July 4th from 10.30h to 14h

And in the last session we will finalize the printing, and we will make the respective manipulations.

No previous knowledge of risography or design is necessary, since it is an introductory workshop. Although riso is an analog technique and you can make the designs by hand, the files will have to be digitized and edited, for this reason, we need you to bring your own laptop and have installed photoshop, and have some previous knowledge of the program.

Marian Vélez Luque (Barcelona, 1999), is a graphic artist with a degree in Fine Arts. She works in art direction, theatrical costumes, but especially in graphics and illustration. She is co-founder of the collective 5 céntimos, and currently teacher of the risography workshop of La Escocesa. She participates in several projects, linked to the music and audiovisual industry, and collaborates with cultural entities, such as the Brossa Foundation, Invertebrates Days or Casa Montjuich.
